Don't be afraid

As a survivor of Cancer and having lived with hiv since I was 15 years old, I can say that you should not be afraid to live. Live it up like there is no tomorrow. I'm not suggesting you become careless, but simply to take time to smell the flowers, while becoming more open to taking chances. Yes, it is scary to take chances in the romance department, work department, finance, industrial, economical and domestic departments, but in the long run, will you ever truly learn your lessons by playing it safe? No! A lesson will hardly be learned unless you "learn it well," otherwise known as learning the hard way... from experience.

Life is all about taking chances, coping with change, and learning your lessons well. I am not going to lie or put it sweetly and say that life is wonderful and kind and generous, because it is absolutely not. Yeah, life can be all those things and more, but only if you do it right. What is right is not always what is easy or safe. Right can, more often than not, hard and a real kick in the butt. The true secret in life is to go through your life with optimism, a positive attitude, and keeping in mind that people are generally good (even though most choose not to act in such a way). The secret of life and personal success is to stay focused with a positive outlook and maintain unbreakable optimism. It's all about karma, baby. If you have been done wrong and all you can and will choose to feel is revenge, negativity and anger, that is all you are going to receive all your life. If you choose to let things roll off your shoulders after something negative happens to you, then you won't have a burden on them. Simple as that. It really does not matter how many yoga classes you go to, or how much you spend on your therapist's sofa: if you don't make the change from bad to good within yourself, you will not know what is good when it comes to you.

If you choose to respond, rather than react, you will be one step closer to that healthy lifestyle. Same goes for relationships. If you are so used to unhealthy relationships, and have had one bad boy/girlfriend after another, and you choose to hold on to that, you may not be able to every have a good relationship again unless you choose to let go of the past, keep a healthy outlook and let others be drawn to your positive energy and approach. I have personally, had one bad relationship after another, but I decided to do something different, due to my noticing the mirror in my face. A very wise person once said to me, "if you don't like the reflection, don't blame the mirror, just change what you see in it." That was a real slap in the face, but a slap in the face I needed to hear. I changed, by forgiving all those negative people from my past, for whatever they did to me and I changed my patterns. Patterns I didn't even know I had... until I saw 'my reflection.' I listened to my sister-in-law, who gave me inspiring advise, and I decided to forgive, remember, and learn.

I thought I was destined to walk the face of the earth as a lonely spinster for the rest of my life. I changed my outlook on life, my attitude, and my negativity. As a result, I managed to find the love of my life, a job I love, and I am happy with who I am, where I've ended up, and where I am still going in my life. It just so happens that you don't have to change everything about you. It's like getting rid of the garbage, if you let it sit, it will inevitably start to stink. Karma is the same way. The way karma works is: you get what you give, three fold . Never forget that, because it will be a very helpful tip throughout your life. Good things come to those who wait, yes, but not to those who sit and wait. Get up, get out and always be open to change. Life is about change, change is good, life is change, if we don't change, we die. So take a chance, or two, make a change and then wait for the positive universal responses yet to come your way. You'll be glad you did.
